Project :Tramonto Cottage, La Route de Petit Port, St. Brelade
Design Proposal :
The proposal comprises the demolition of an existing garage and the construction of a 2 bedroom dwelling to accommodate the client’s parents.
The property is located in the white zone, and the proposed dwelling and associated garden and parking can be accommodated within the existing entrance forecourt/ parking area without impinging on the existing access and car parking arrangements for Tramonto – the main house.
The proposed dwelling sits on the eastern edge of the site and its design aims to minimise its impact on the whole site. The main house is in a ‘modern’ style, perhaps from the 1970’s, and is characterised by expansive shallow pitched roofs clad in terracotta interlocking tiles. The materials palette includes granite, render and timber cladding. At the rear of the main house is an expansive garden affording impressive views to the sea in the distance.
The proposals employ a similar palette of render, horizontal boarding and metal windows, but employs a zinc clad roof to give a contemporary appearance. The house is discreetly located behind the substantial existing hedge.
Planning & Byelaw Approved – Construction to begin on site shortly
